Low Taxes

Preserving our Values & Traditions

Small Government

Low Taxes and responsible budgeting are the hallmark of good governance.  I fulfilled this promise as a Board of Director member for Elverson-Honey Brook EMS and will continue as your next Township Supervisor.

Small Government

Preserving our Values & Traditions

Small Government

I support the current size and cost of our Township leadership.

I opposed the referendum to expand the cost and size of our government in 2023 and refuse to have more people tell you how to live.

Less than 5 months ago, my opponent was a Republican Committeeperson and now shares space on a lawn to retain 5 LIBERAL judges.

Don't you think she will flip/flop again if she is elected? SHE'S DONE IT BEFORE. How can she be everything to everyone?

Vote for the Husband/Dad/Community Volunteer who believes in LOW TAXES, SMALL GOVERNMENT & ENVIRONMENTAL SECURITY.

FACT v. FICTION / Steve v. Val

• CLAIM: I (my opponent) did win the Democratic primary.

  · FACT: I personally did win the Republican primary, as the Republican Candidate. My Opponent did NOT secure the Republican vote in May and then QUIT her Republican Leadership position, running on the Democratic ticket.

• CLAIM: Municipal Police Coverage can be provided within the realm of the existing budget.

FACT: The Honey Brook Police Department was disbanded in 2005 due to its high cost and insufficient service (only 30-40% coverage from just 2 officers). Today, coverage would be even lower with only one officer. The State Police continue to provide adequate backup to both the Township and the Borough. .

• CLAIM: Call response times have worsened.

· FACT: There is no evidence to support this. In fact, Chief Wilson of Honey Brook Borough has stated that the State Police are often the first to arrive when assistance is needed.

• CLAIM: Overdevelopment isn’t being addressed.

FACT: Overdevelopment is a real threat across Chester County. As Vice-Chairman of Land Preservation, I remain committed to protecting our environmental security and rural character.

• CLAIM: The Township ignored a request for help from the Borough Police Chief.

· FACT: In February 2023, Chief Wilson attended a BOS workshop with two Borough Council members—who were later reprimanded for attending without authorization. Since then:

o Multiple officers in the department were suspended, from two-day suspensions to two-week suspensions, for policy violations.

o The acting police chief resigned.

• CLAIM: I opposed important environmental ordinances.

FACT: I fully support our environmental security and clean drinking sources. Valerie stringently questioned the Act 537 on-site septic regulations, a state-mandated provision designed to protect our drinking water & environment. She chose not to submit questions during the 30-day public comment period but instead waited until just minutes before the vote.

• CLAIM: The Umble Park skatepark caused $140,000 in budget overruns.

FACT: Valerie has offered no evidence to support this. The skatepark has cost nearly $400,000, half funded by a matching DCNR state grant. There have been no budget overruns.

• CLAIM: The skatepark is failing.

FACT: This is false. The park has received positive feedback and ZERO reported police incidents in 2025. While some cracks are present, this is common in concrete skateparks. The builder, a skater himself, has provided a three-year guarantee. He was not notified of issues, and false claims like these could be damaging to his business and legally actionable.

FYI: Our skateboard park builder is NOW currently building a park in Elverson Borough

• CLAIM: Land Preservation funds were mishandled.

FACT: In 2020 and 2021, under a previous Board, funds were temporarily moved in preparation for Umble Park improvements. In 2022, under the new leadership of Supervisor Laura Burdy and Township Manager Warren Obenski, the funds were returned following successful completion of the skatepark—in accordance with the grant requirements & before my appointment to The Land Preservation Committee.

• CLAIM: The Board secretly passed a zoning amendment without public input.

FACT: The Board presented a draft zoning amendment for county and planning commission review—not for a final vote. Pennsylvania law requires public posting before any vote, and the current Board of Supervisors is fully compliant. This was not a violation of the Sunshine Law.

• CLAIM: I do not support local police services.

· FACT: I fully support a review of police options—WITHOUT a tax increase & WITHOUT cuts to existing services. Valerie, our Elected Auditor since 2024, however, has not outlined what cuts she would make to fund a department or when she will audit our Magisterial District Court, her REAL job as elected Auditor. We currently fund many essential services—including:

o Honey Brook Fire Company

o Elverson-Honey Brook EMS

o The Honey Brook Food Pantry

o The Honey Brook Community Library

o The Honey Brook Community Partnership
These programs would likely suffer under her proposal. Additionally, Chief Wilson has acknowledged: “Everybody in law enforcement has limited manpower.” So, where does Valerie plan to find the necessary officers?

• CLAIM: The EIT (Earned Income Tax) should be reduced or eliminated.

· FACT: While a previous Township Supervisor and the current Chairman of Land Preservation project the Land Preservation tax may sunset around 2030-2032, we do not yet have sufficient evidence to make changes. The Board awaits the 2025 Land Preservation Five-Year Report before making decisions.

  • One of Scott's most watched videos of a Township meeting, ever.  Curious how I would chair a meeting and speak with citizens?  Give this a watch.  Hint, it was a great meeting with constructive conversation and respectful participants.

My Mission, My Promise

Serving The Community

As a 16-year resident of Honey Brook Township, nearly 30-year first responder in Chester County and military veteran, I look to utilize my experience, education and knowledge to represent the citizens of my community through collective governance and listening to the concerns of my fellow neighbors.

My Bio

My family and I have lived in Honey Brook Township since 2009, and I bring 30 years of First Responder experience into my roles serving the community.  Over 20 years of this experience has been as a police officer here in Chester County and I currently serve as our Township's Emergency Management Coordinator and Vice-Chairman of the Land Preservation Committee.  I also bring this experience to my role as a prior member of Elverson-Honey Brook EMS and their Board of Directors.  I first served as an employee/Emergency Medical Technician and then as a board member for over 11 years.  My vision and experience expanded EHBEMS' ambulance membership program and community outreach, including the annual Christmas Toy Drive benefiting families within Honey Brook Township since 2020.

Legislatively, I worked tirelessly with Honey Brook Township representatives in 2017 & 2018 to secure a sustainable funding model for Elverson-Honey Brook EMS.  I am also an active member of the Chester County Fraternal Order of Police, a FOP legislative committeeperson and a graduate of Rosemont College and Penn State University.  Utilizing this experience, my commitment means preserving our traditions, community-based solutions and keeping Honey Brook Amazing.

My wife and I have two children and their participation in community events have inspired us to help coach Little League baseball and softball at Umble Park, volunteer at youth football games and cheer at youth field hockey games.  Our son is preparing for his freshman year at Penn State this fall, and our daughter is a student at TVMS.  We are also active in religious education at our local church and the girls are enthusiastically involved in their local Girl Scout Troop.  As my family matures, I want to ensure the same great experiences for current and future friends and families right here in Honey Brook Township.

Preserving our Traditions

As Vice-Chairman of Honey Brook Township's Land Preservation Committee, I am committed to preserving our community and the way of life so many of our friends and neighbors have embraced.

Properly funding and advertising the program is the most influential way citizens of our community can influence how OUR community looks.

Preparing our Community

As our Township's Emergency Management Coordinator, planning and preparation are integral to providing a safe community.  Conducting drills and participating in hours of state and federal training programs permits our Township to ensure preparation for any emergencies that might take place.  I also work with members of our local emergency services, including the Honey Brook Fire Company and Elverson-Honey Brook Area EMS.

Ensuring our Safety

With 20+ years as a police officer in Chester County, I am the only candidate endorsed by the Chester County FOP with the knowledge and experience to lead the analysis and discussions in the need for law enforcement services within Honey Brook Township.

My experience is backed up with the knowledge and education of a

BS in Criminal Justice from Rosemont College and a

Master's degree in Public Administration from Penn State University.

Providing for our Community

As a board member of Elverson-Honey Brook Area EMS in the early 2020s, I worked with our local Girl Scout Troop and collected over 1,000 pounds of food from the community which was donated to the Honey Brook Food Pantry.

A Gift Under Every Tree

As a board member of Elverson-Honey Brook Area EMS in 2020, I created, with the assistance of our entire organization, the annual Christmas Toy Drive with our partners at Anchored Ministries.  This first year, over 150 friends and neighbors responded and donated over 700 toys for 300 families in need in our community, including Honey Brook Township.

This tradition entered its 5th year in 2024 and is going strong.
